AN EVENING OF MUSICAL ENJOYMENT
Submitted by Associate Member Maureen Godbold

Our UNSW Staff Social Club is much appreciated for the variety of excursions and week-ends which are organised for the pleasure and interest of its members

On Saturday, 2nd May, 1998, a very special evening was enjoyed by all who attended.

After having been driven to Castle Hill RSL, where a delicious dinner awaited, members were driven to the beautiful home of Mr David Parsons O.A.M.

David Parsons has a small concert hall in his home where he gives recitals for various charities and interest groups. He is a brilliant exponent of both the organ and the piano and plays a Wurlitzer Theatre Organ, an Ahlborn Galanti Pipeless Pipe Organ and a grand piano.

For many years David has been organist and choirmaster of churches in Eastwood and West Pennant Hills, having commenced church work at the age of 14. His expertise on the theatre organ as well as pipe organ is highly regarded and he has played many times at the Sydney Town Hall and the Opera House.

Members were treated to a feast of all types of music, both popular and classical, the second half of the concert being requests. These ranged from Andrew Lloyd Webber to Bach's Toccata and Fugue. All members agreed it was an evening of exceptional entertainment.
